70 Speedsters Warned Following Last Speed Watch in Broad Lane North!

Further to the Post I placed on this site yesterday about the

“Call for Police Action – Broad Lane North.”

Well I have had a swift response from Wednesfield Police  they say “The Neighbourhood team are aware of the speeding issues in both Broad Lane North and South. The stretch of road together with Linthouse Lane and Kitchen Lane are our default roads for speed watch initiatives. In fact, the team conducted an initiative only a few weeks ago in the said road.

The sergeant continued  by stating “Over 70 motorists were sent warning letters. Having said that, with the finite resources we have on the team, we need members of the public to make the initiatives more impactive. Unfortunately we have great difficulty in getting community members to actually give up their time to conduct the ‘community’ speedwatch. Perhaps you would be able to drum up some support?”

Broad Lane North Would residents join the Police for a Community Speed Watch? The last time 70 offenders were recorded.

So Wednesfield Police are looking for residents in Broad Lane North to join those residents in Linthouse Lane and Kitchen Lane that join together with the Police and run their own ‘community’ Speed Watch. Now this is what the police are requesting, they also would like to encourage residents from Broad Lane North to attend the Wednesfield North PACT meeting.

I am keen to hear what you as residents think about this?

The Police went onto say “If we are in a position, supported by the community, to conduct the speedwatch programme, I may be able to request force support to run a period of speeding campaigns where after a period of warnings, motorists are prosecuted. As you are aware, I am happen to listen to the ‘community’ and allocate staff accordingly, however recent attendance at PACT meetings has been poor recently.” The Police have placed this back into our community for some action…are you up for it!
