Another Burglary, and more frayed nerves!

Another burglary this time on Ashmore Park just days after the Police have been talking about non – attendance at house burglary!

The West Midlands Police have warned that they will be cutting Police and PCSO numbers. The force tell us that they will have lower numbers of policemen in uniform soon, than they had when the West Midlands Police were first formed in 1974!

The head of the new National Police Chiefs’ Council, Chief Constable Sara Thornton, has said budget cuts and the changing face of crime could mean police officers would not be dispatched to investigate burglaries. Ms Thornton said the police had lost 70,000 posts over ten years and had endured 25% budget cuts.

Meanwhile, burglaries were down but sex offences, cyber-crime and terrorism were up. “Crime is changing in this country,” she told the BBC. “We need to move from reacting to some of those traditional crimes to thinking about focusing on threat and harm and risk and really protecting the public.” She added: “We cannot do everything… The cuts are so significant, we are going to have so few officers that the public’s expectations are going to have to change.”

The question Wednesfied North residents have to ask themselves is “Am I happy to have this change made in my name? If the answer is ‘No’ what are you prepared to do about it?”
