Beware Parking Around New Cross Hospital- It Could Be Costly!

I want my constituents to be very much aware of an issue that has been developing around a privately owned Parking site close to New Cross Hospital

Please be very careful if you use this site….Here is what one of my constituents have said about it in a written statement to me.

“I fell foul of Parking Eye on the 15th of March , with all New Cross parking spaces full and desperate to make an out patients appointment I pulled on the car park adjacent to Bentley Bridge after seeing  ‘a park here sign.’

This was a big mistake as there is no payment facility offered, just signs that ask you to use your phone, so you go through a 4 to 5 minutes keypad command to set up an account , which they then confirm , following this you again use your phones keypad to add debit card details after which they confirm payment, difficult for the old and infirm to navigate .

The following week I received a demand for £100, if paid within 2 weeks £60, identifying my car and personal details through DVLA  .

You can appeal on line, which I did , no reply from Parking Eye, then a day or 2 before 14 days,I received a further reminder , so paid £60 . Low and behold 3 days later I received my Bank statement with a payment of £3.20 for the parking , Now I am livid and will be requested return of all monies and compensation for the duress , stress and having to request a new debit card , will keep you informed .”

Please be very careful, even if you are in a hurry for a New Cross appointment.

I have asked Wolverhampton City Council Trading Standards team to investigate, but in the meantime please be very careful where, and how you park., it could be costly!
