Blue Badge Applicants Information

Blue BadgeNew check and send service for Blue Badge applicants

People with disabilities can now apply for Blue Badges through selected libraries in Wolverhampton.

The City of Wolverhampton Council is piloting a new check and send service, with staff on hand to help applicants through the process.

Although the quickest and easiest way to apply is online at Blue Badge Scheme, Bilston, Warstones and Wednesfield libraries can offer additional support to people completing their forms.

Councillor Elias Mattu, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults, said: “Blue Badges are a lifeline for many people with a disability, and so I’m delighted that we’re making the application process even more convenient.

“We process around 80 applications for blue badges per week, but only around 20% of these are currently submitted online.

“This is the quickest and easiest way to apply; there is nothing to pay and is more convenient than applying by post.

“But we know that some people may need a little support to complete their application forms, and so staff at Bilston, Warstones and Wednesfield libraries have been trained up to help customers fill in their forms and check they have been completed correctly. They can even take applicants’ identity photographs free of charge.”

The Blue Badge scheme provides a range of parking concessions for disabled people. Drivers displaying a valid Blue Badge can park for free without a time limit at pay and display on street parking, unless otherwise stated by signage.

They can also park for free for a limited time within designated disabled parking bays within the city centre, and locations with single or double yellow lines as long as there are no restrictions on loading or unloading.
