We Will Miss Harry Gibbons
One of Wolverhampton's great characters has sadly passed awaylast Tuesday.
He is Mr Harry Gibbons. Harry was a great guy. One of Wolverhampton's unsung heroes and a man who had a real twinkle in his eye.
During our Mayoral year Harry was a regular visitor to the Mayor's Parlour. He didn't come empty handed he always brought a small donation for the Mayor's General Charities Fund. He didn't just 'give' to our charity fund. I believe he had been making these visits for years and giving to all the Mayor's of Wolverhampton a little cash gift from his own resources.
Harry was a proud service man during the War, he was a member of the The Royal British Legion, and he was just a great man with a lovely smile and always a little kiss for the Mayoress!
We came to be firm friends and I believe he was a true Wulfrunian. He was a very happy man and both Mary and I will miss him so much. His funeral is on Thurs 13th July at 11.45 at East Chapel Bushbury.
