Tram Disruption Wednesday 2nd April
Many of you will have read the information on my web site and know that I have left my normal job with National Express and Midland Metro
But I cannot let my constituents make a journey in the morning without knowing that there will be disruption on the tram service due to an overhead line problem.
Here is some information that I hope will help you in your journey planning. I know that my colleagues at National Express West Midlands are doing all they can to ensure that the disruption is kept to a minimum.
As a result of damage to the overhead power lines in the Soho area Metro services will be affected on Wednesday 2nd Aprilfrom start of service in the morning.
Trams will operate in both directions between Wolverhampton St Georges and Handsworth Booth Street tram stops.
There will also be a shuttle service in operation between Jewellery Quarter and Birmingham Snow Hill tram stops.
There will however be no trams operating from Winson Green or Soho Benson Road tram stops.Metro tickets and passes will be valid on adjacent National Express West Midlands bus services and London Midland train services.
Customers are being advised to change at West Bromwich Central tram stop for onward bus services towards Birmingham and at The Hawthorns tram stop for the onward train service to Birmingham Snow Hill. Metro tickets and passes will also be accepted in both directions on the London Midland train service between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton rail stations.
Midland Metro apologises for this disruption to services. They are doing everything possible to reinstate normal services as quickly as possible.
The reason for the overhead wire problem is the subject of an internal engineering inquiry. The service was first disrupted at about 17.20 tonight.
