Peacock Avenue

Following a request that I have made, and with support from Oakmeadow Primary School.
The City Councils Road Safety Department is looking at the provision of a permanent pedestrian crossing in Peacock Avenue. There are a number of big issues to take on before the final approvals can be given. One of those issues is the criteria for a crossing and that is being analysed at the moment.

I am encouraged by the response I have received from the school, and also by the encouragement I have received from some local residents that support the feasibility study that is taking place to determine if the location covers all the criteria for the site and construction of such a facility.

What is certain is that there is now impetus for the scheme and I look forward to receiving the officials views in due course. In the meantime the extra parking places and the low kerbs are being constructed in Peacock Avenue. All of which should improve not only the look to the Avenue but also the road safety implications as well.
