Jeremy Corbyn has announced that Labour would recruit 1,000 more security personnel across intelligence agencies MI5, MI6 and GCHQ as part of a range of measures to prevent terrorism.
The party would also increase resources for schools, colleges and local councils to identify radicalisation in their communities, and move to protect those at risk from it. Mr Corbyn said: “Ensuring the safety of our communities demands properly resourced action across many fronts. It means upholding and enforcing our individual rights, promoting community relations, supporting our emergency services, tackling and preventing crime and protecting us from danger, including threats of terror and violence.”
Councillor Phil Bateman said “Locally your three Councillors continue to campaign for Labour here in Wednesfield. I must say we are very heartened by the response we are getting in the streets and on the doorsteps, people realise that Labour is offering hope not pedalling the fear that the Conservatives are.
The Tory message is like reading from a book of bed time horror, and of course residents are balancing that with their recent experience of the gusto in which Tory Government have attacked Local Government services. People know what the Tory game is all about and the threats about the ‘Bogey Man’ is all about detracting from their lamentable Government record.
Take Schools here in Wednesfield, at Comprehensive level we read in the Local Press about poor performances, the cutback in resources. Here in Wednesfield we know of the threat to 20 school jobs. We also know that in one Local School of the lack of paper, alarm bells being set off seven times in a week! This is the result of Tory education policy, and it is failing now! The Conservatives are threatening more of the same policy in their #GE2017 election plans.
Take a look at the UK economy- Right across the UK’s economy Tory Government actions have been disastrous. They don’t want to talk about that though. Preferring the ‘Bogey man’ stories to frighten you away from voting for hope with Labour!
If you still think that this Government is on your side, just take a look at the money you have in your pocket. It is shrinking at an alarming rate!
Sterling’s decline over the past year has been Britain’s “least successful” currency devaluation in history, according to an analysis of latest growth figures. The UK’s trade balance has worsened by 1.8% of GDP since the final quarter of 2015, with rising exports being outstripped by an even faster rise in imports, according to Samuel Tombs of Pantheon Macroeconomics.
By contrast, the economy was boosted by an improving trade position after four significant devaluations — in 1967, 1976, 1992 and 2007. “It’s no exaggeration to call this the least successful depreciation in Britain’s history,” said Mr Tombs.
So a worse balance of trade figure, imports are flooding the UK, exports being outstripped and less value for money in your £ if you do have a foreign holiday!
This Conservative Government are not the super government the Tories are trying to flannel you into believing….So why wouldn’t local people vote for the Labour Party in these circumstances… Hope and a change of policy direction, and a real vision for the future of Britain is on offer with Labour! Hope is what Wednesfield people want, and Labours Manifesto gives them that! I urge residents here in Wednesfield to Vote Labour!
