Earth Day Today Wednesfield -Enjoy It!

Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2022 is Invest In Our Planet.

Here in Wednesfield your three City Councillors are supporting Earth Day, by asking you to take a look at the recent investment made here in our Ward environmentally.

In the Ashmore Park we have seen investment take place in the shape of our ‘New Tiny Forest’

Along our fantastic Local Nature Reserve on the Wyrley and Essington canal, where you will see low level environmentally sustainable lighting between the city and Wednesfield Bentley Bridge. Enhancing pedestrian safety. Plus you can see Nature itself reinvesting, with new young waterfowl! Just Beautiful!

Councillor Mary Bateman said today ” Earth Day is all about the work we do here in Wednesfield and more. It is about the great volunteers of Wednesfield in Bloom, its about the volunteer Litter Picks, its about campaigning against the destruction of the Essington Green Belt. Its these issues that are important to me, as i am sure they are important to you. I am Wednesfield born and bred, and I would like you to enjoy what I enjoy here in our home.”
