Some residents in Eccleston road on Ashmore Park are very upset that they have been without a street light since a Road Traffic Accident in the late Summer. They have been continuously asking when it will be attached to the power supply. The City had replace the lamp post with in 24 hours. But its the power supply that needs addressing.
Councillor Phil Bateman said This is what I am informed. – “Under normal circumstances Western Power Distribution (WPD) have very strict guaranteed standards of service (GSoS) and there performance is usually excellent. For a new connection like this one the GSoS demands that it should be completed within 25 working days but usually WPD complete them in substantially less time.
Due to the pandemic WPD stopped all routine connection work, as this one and only carried out emergencies.
This has led to a serious backlog in this type of work across the whole of the WPD area.
I have again pressed WPD for a completion date and they have assured me that they will have a team on site on 30 October to connect the new light. This date is the very best they can do as the first date I was given was mid to late November. ”
Councillor Bateman added ” Clearly there is a problem within Western Power, but I am pleased that we have received a date for when the Light should get switched on.”
