Food Bank Switch- From Today Sunday 31st May!

The Ashmore Park Food Bank has switched from the Ashmore Inn to the St Albans Church on Griffith Drive Ashmore Park. Its been started for some weeks now in The Ashmore Inn by Licensee Kevin Ward.

Now with the Public House closed and now undergoing extensive refurbishment, the Rev Tom Fish and St Albans Church have agreed to continue to deliver the Food Bank service, and run the Food Bank operation from the Church.
So today (Sunday) Mary and I went down to the Church and donated another three Bags of Grocery to the Ashmore Park Food Bank project. We have been buying and donating food every week since it opened, and I am pleased to say that the project is still going strong.
The Church is still being supported by Kevin, and indeed he was at St Albans when we popped in this morning.
The whole project has been a really very well-run affair. The Ashmore Inn, and its customers have been amazingly generous. Of course the real winners are our community here in Ashmore Park and the housing estates and neighbourhoods that adjoin it
There is a real need for this facility, and now with the St Albans team behind its progress, plus continued support from the Ashmore Inn, and support from the wider community. It’s a project that will continue to remain relevant for quite a long period of time.

Reverend Tom Fish told me that the switch had gone smoothly, and in the first hour of opening -“Five people had visited the project”.

So the message really is a clear one now. As advertised in the Church Magazine – “If anyone you know is running short of food, encourage them to come along, or give Food Bank a call on: 07841 382773 (phone number for the foodbank) and we’ll do all we can to get them what they need.”

So if you are in need of some food help, or you want to donate some food or groceries, please contact the Food Bank tel number, ot through Rev Tom, or the Ashmore Inn, and Kevin will willingly assist you in your enquiries. The project is open on a Sunday and Wednesday, 12-3pm.

Failing that contact with any of your three Local Councillors- Rita, Mary or Phil. They are always on hand to offer help and advice.
