Food Parcels being delivered/Further training of redeployed staff at our Food Distribution Hub
Yesterday, redeployed council staff received training to serve as food handling operatives at the Aldersley hub. Driver training was completed today, bringing the total number of trained redeployed staff to 145.
Today marked the start of supply packages being prepared and delivered to the doorsteps of vulnerable residents who are considered to be at highest risk from coronavirus. Our database, created with the help of the Wolverhampton Clinical Commissioning Group and city GPs, has over 35,000 residents who are considered to be at high risk due to age or pre-existing health conditions. Letters detailing how these residents can access further support are being dispatched, with some already received.
The hub has been brought into operation with help from a number of local businesses. Eastgate Commercial Vehicles have supplied the 40 strong fleet of vans, and Marston’s have provided wholesale food supplies and logistical planning expertise.
We are pleased to be able to say that the first parcels have now been delivered – see a video of this here https://www.facebook.com/WolverhamptonToday/videos/1054677444915532/ – many more to come in the next few days…..
