Phil Bateman has left his long-serving CPT position as Manager for the West Midlands to spend more time in his day-to-day role as councillor for Wednesfield North.
Phil joined CPT in 2008 after 20 years at Travel West Midlands (National Express).
Phil’s long and distinguished career in the industry was formally recognised in 2004 when he was awarded the MBE for services to transport in the West Midlands. In 2005/06 he was elected Mayor of Wolverhampton.
Replacing Phil and taking up the role of Manager for both the East and West Midlands regions at the beginning of August is David Warrilow, former Sales Manager at CPT supplier member EvoBus UK.
Chris Dudley, Chairman of CPT West Midlands region says: “On behalf of all CPT members in the West Midlands, I would like to thank Phil for all his efforts and hard work in the region over the past eight years. We have a come a long way in a short space of time.”
“Phil has been an extremely supportive and knowledgeable colleague who has campaigned tirelessly for the good of coaches and buses, championing and raising awareness of our industry at every given opportunity.”
“His ability to gain support and interest in our causes and to get key industry stakeholders onside is second to none.”
Adds Chris: “I would like to wish Phil all the best for the future and I know that the people of Wednesfield North will be very well served.”
Peter Gomersall, CPT Deputy CEO, adds: “Phil has been an incredibly important asset to CPT, both in the West Midlands and nationally, and working with him over the past 8 years has been a real pleasure.”
“I am also delighted that David Warrilow has agreed to join the CPT team in the East and West Midlands regions. His knowledge and understanding of the day-to-day issues currently facing operators, backed up by over 30 years industry experience, means he is perfectly placed to continue where Phil has left off.
