Great things to do in Wednesfield during this Holiday Month of August!
The month started with an exciting Floating Market – This was a great two days! A real family occasion. Good size crowd came to see how our ancient and wonderful canal here in Wednesfield, they enjoyed seeing it come back to life with Narrow boats and visitors.
Also taking place on the 1st of August was the Black Country Fuchsia Society Show held for the first time in the Hub at Ashmore Park! It was a great splash of colour! They did so well they are coming back next year!
August is a great month in Wednesfield – It’s the Anniversary of the Great Battle of Wodensfield, from which the Village get its name. The dates are the 5-6th August. Wolverhampton City in which Wednesfield Village is located will be flying the City flag to commemorate the anniversary of this important Battle. I am asking residents in Wednesfield to do likewise!

Thereby giving the Village its name of Woden’sField later to become Wednesfield.”
On the 8-9th August – Great Battle Re-Enactment there will also be a Battle re-enactment taking place in the Village and at Wednesfield High School.
9th August – Wednesfield Aces are also staging the World Cycle Speedway Championships at their home cycle track in Ashmore Park. Its rumoured that Sky TV will be broadcasting from the event.
Sunday 9th August Blue Light Play Scheme- West Midlands Police & Fire Service have come together and have provided some great dates and events Sunday 9th August – Playing fields, Amos Lane 7pm-9pm
Saturday 8th of August– The Dog and Partridge is hosting a charity fun day from 10am. All are welcome with free entry – The Charity they are raising awareness and money for is Children With Cancer UK
Tuesday 18th August Blue Light Play Scheme – Perry Hall Park 7pm – 9pm
Thursday 20th August Blue Light Play Scheme– Perry Hall Park 2pm – 4pm
Tuesday 25th August 2015 – Ashmore Park Library– A great Reading event between 12noon and 1.00pm Aimed at children aged 5+. Remember Children under the age of 8 Must be accompanied by an Adult! This is another great event provided by the Library service…so place it in your Diary and come along!
Tuesday 25th August – Blue Light Play Scheme Playing fields – Griffiths Drive, Ashmore Park 7pm-9pm.
