Kitchen Lane Bad Bend -Road Safety Team Respond.

I have been pressing the Road Safety Team to address some of the problems that exist on and around the bad bend on Kitchen Lane near the Junction of Thornley Road.

This is what is now likely to happen, which is a positive move. The team has written that –

“A member of the road safety team has undertaken a site inspection, during which they noted that there are two chevron boards – one for either direction – to highlight the bend to drivers. There is also a sign warning of ‘zig-zag bends ahead’. However, this is only on the southern side of the bend and I will therefore arrange for a similar sign to be erected on the northern side.

I also note that the existing white lining – centre line and ‘SLOW’ road markings – are quite worn and so I will ask my colleagues in Highway Maintenance to ensure that they are on a programme to be refreshed as soon as possible.”

Cllr Bateman said ” I am pleased that there is a recognition that there are some actions that will assist drivers by giving them a warning. But its also important that drivers cut their speed on this lane. I will continue to request the Police to use their law enforcement to also help curtail speed on Kitchen Lane.
