Now here is some good news! Trams are on track to be running through to Birmingham in the autumn it has been confirmed.
Testing runs on the new Midlands Metro extension between Snow Hill and New Street is due begin around the end of October, or early November.
And this means that the £127 million project will be up and running as planned.
Centro which is overseeing the development, said that with the track laying is now well underway and they expect to be ready to start testing the trams in Birmingham October and gradually introduce the passenger service after that.
This is good news for Wolverhampton as it allows the tram passengers better access to the heart of Birmingham, and access direct to Birmingham New Street station. The sooner the arrangements are made for Wolverhampton extensions the better! When that takes place the Metro will be facing in towards Wednesfield and lobbying can take place for the next phase to start taking shape.
