National Express West Midlands has announced changes to its bus network in West Dudley, Wolverhampton and Staffordshire. The changes include new direct links and more frequent buses.
Following a public consultation the bus operator has used the feedback to help shape its bus network from 26th January 2020.
Some of the main highlights as a result of the consultation feedback include:
• Direct buses between Wombourne and Merry Hill will continue – with an increased frequency of every 20 minutes.
• Himley will continue to be served – buses will run up to every 20 minutes to Wolverhampton and Merry Hill via Wombourne, Wall Heath and Kingswinford.
• Gornal and Stickley retain a direct bus link to Stourbridge and Dudley.
Chris Gibbens, Commercial Director of National Express UK Bus, said:
“During our consultation we asked for feedback about our proposed changes to buses across West Dudley, Wolverhampton and Staffordshire. We’ve listened to our customers and based on the comments received, we’ve changed some of our original proposals.
“From 26th January 2020 our customers will see an improved network with more punctual and frequent buses. And where journeys involve a change of bus we’ve worked hard to better coordinate our services to make it simpler and easier for our customers.
“We’re introducing new direct links to connect key areas on our network and we’ll have more buses serving communities in Dudley, Wrens Nest, Wolverhampton and Kingswinford. Himley will also continue to be served every 20 minutes to Wolverhampton and Merry Hill.”
Earlier this year National Express West Midlands held an online and paper consultation about changes to bus routes across its West Dudley network as well as some services to and from Wolverhampton and Staffordshire.
Customers, staff and stakeholders gave their views on route specific questions, the feedback for which has been carefully considered and helped National Express West Midlands to develop its new network of services from 26th January 2020.
