Councillor Phil Bateman “Hi Wednesfield – I have just received this message from Local Bus Company National Express West Midlands, so before you make a bus journey next week check on your bus routes and timetables.”
Friday 27 March 2020
In response to changes in demand and new government restrictions on travel, National Express West Midlands is making further changes to bus services from Monday 30 March 2020.
We are strongly advising all customers to check the new timetables before they travel next week. The new timetables are available now on the website nxbus.co.uk.
We’ve worked very closely with Transport for West Midlands through the Bus Alliance to coordinate these latest changes. We continue to provide an effective network of bus services so that key workers can get to where they need to be. And we are also making sure there are bus services to hospitals and supermarkets for those that rely on us in order to make essential journeys.
We are reminding customers of the current government advice to remain two metres apart at all times. Our route planning teams are also closely monitoring passenger numbers on our buses to make sure customers can safely practise distancing on board.
Some key points to highlight about Monday’s bus service changes are:
• A small number of very lightly used routes will be suspended for a while, although we’ve tried to ensure there are suitable alternatives within a reasonable walking distance.
• On most routes, timings of first and last buses will be the same or within a few minutes of current times.
• Nearly all Saturday services will be running to the same timetables that are running Monday-Friday.
• Sunday services will continue to run, but some will have revised timetables from Sunday 5th April.
Full details and timetables are available now on our website nxbus.co.uk.
As I mentioned in the update on Friday last week, due to the pace of these changes we would really appreciate your support in raising awareness locally and advising residents to check the latest journey timings on the website before they travel.
In the meantime, because of the reduced levels of bus services, we currently have a large number of drivers and buses, coaches and accessible minibuses across the West Midlands. We are able to offer supporting services to other organisations if required. These include driver deployment, transportation of goods and/or equipment, shuttling of staff and more.
We are in contact with all public services and major employers, but if you do know of anyone who might need our help, please feel free to pass on the contact details of our coordination team: email@example.com.
Thank you in advance, once again, for any help you are able to offer with updating your local residents. We really appreciate your help in these difficult times.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact myself or Ali Bell, otherwise keep well and stay safe.
