PACT Meeting- Only three members of the public attended.

I attended the Wednesfield North PACT meeting tonight at the Hub at Ashmore Park. There was a very poor attendance with just three members of the public including myself present.

Sgt Stanley opened the meeting by informing those present that since the last PACT meeting there had been just 75 crimes reported in Wednesfield North. But he also reported that his team had been called out on 289 individual calls. He reported that gave Wednesfield North the second lowest crime figures in the City.

He also reported in the West Midlands Police area that public confidence was highest with the police here in Wolverhampton. The priorities were set as

  • being the shopping parade
  • Speeding
  • Parking issues

He also informed the meeting that West Midlands police were undertaking a review of neighbourhood policing. There was much dabate about this news, and there was a feeling in the room that the current arrangements that prevail here in Wednesfield North will be hard to sustain. It was also reported that a senior Inspector was having a meeting with City Councillors to talk about future policing.

Change appears to be very much in the air. The meeting closed early which enabled me to speak with !cid_A275ED13937A4FB8B677C449888A6B58@userPC police 1Sgt Stanley about a list of issues raised with me by constituents which I duly did.
