Phil Bateman said “Take Care! and Get Vaccinated!”

With the Covid-19 virus making even more news in the last 24 hours.
The latest figures show there were 435.7 new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people in Wolverhampton over the last seven days. That means 1,146 people tested positive for the virus in that same period – though the true number of cases will likely be higher. Please folks take care and get vaccinated!”

There are new sites joining a number of existing clinics which are in operation around Wolverhampton, including one in the Mander Centre (Upper Mall, Central Arcade, opposite Rymans), which is offering first, second and booster vaccinations from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays. This site will close at 4.30pm on Christmas Eve, reopening Monday-Thursday, 27-30 December, from 9am-5.30pm, and New Year’s Eve from 9am-4.30pm.

Meanwhile, there is a new Vaccination clinic at The Hub at Ashmore Park (16+) which will be open between 10am and 4pm this Saturday and Sunday (18 and 19 December) and from Monday to Thursday (20-23 December) from 10am-6pm.

Covid-19 testing
People are being advised to take a rapid Covid-19 test on days when they are more likely to come into contact with, or spread, Covid-19, such as when they are in crowded places or visiting someone who is at higher risk of getting seriously ill from Covid-19, including older people or those with underlying health conditions.
Meanwhile, double jabbed contacts of people with Covid-19 can now take a daily rapid test, rather than having to self-isolate. Anyone with symptoms of Covid-19, no matter how mild, must self-isolate and book a PCR test as was previously the case.

Supervised rapid tests are available at the walk-in test facilities at the Civic Centre and the Jamia Masjid Bilal, Newhampton Road, and at participating pharmacies across the city. Home test kits are available from locations across Wolverhampton, including a new pick up point at Wednesfield Market, which is open on normal market days from 8.45am to 4.15pm
