Today I attended the funeral service of my pal and comrade Wally Burley who I have known most of my political life.
Wally was a great character a real great guy, who gave a lifetime to Labour. Tom Watson spoke as did Ian Reilly about the political man that Wally was, the friendships he engendered and the principles he displayed.
They were moving epitaphs of a man that had done much for his fellow mankind.Daughter Maria spoke of Wally the father, the kind man who enjoyed being in the bosom of his family, the fun the practical jokes and his allegiance to the Albion!
It was a moving tribute by Maria to her dad. How ever the poem by Granddaughter Jade left every one with a lump in their throat. Rest In Peace Wally you were a great man, and I will always remember you as will the hundreds that turned out to the funeral service.
