Over the weekend a Wednesfield North resident contacted me regarding the surprise of finding a ‘Rough Sleeper’ in Bealeys Fold at the junction with the High Street. I agreed with him that it was unusual to find this sort of event taking place in Wednesfield.
I contacted the Public Health team and I want to inform you of the situation as I understand it now.
It can come as a shock to people when they witness first-hand the impact that some social factors we may not experience personally can have such a negative impact on someone else.
The City council can offer support in a number of ways such as contact with our drugs and alcohol service and homeless services however the individual concerned, if over 18 years has to want to engage in these services.
I’ve copied in officers form the council who may be able to engage with commissioned services that offer outreach support and try our best to support the person concerned.
I know that the City Councils Homeless Strategy and External Services Manager dispatched an Officer to the site to engage with the person involved.
I will update readers if any more information becomes available.
