Wolverhampton has been chosen by Royal Mail as a base for temporary jobs in their Parcel business, over the Christmas period. This will be a welcome development for those in our community who look for seasonal work in the run up to Christmas.
Royal Mail is opening 10 temporary parcel sort centres to help deal with increased parcel volumes over the festive period.

Bathgate in West Lothian, Bradford and Wolverhampton are three of the chosen destinations as well as Heathrow for international postage. Centres will open on a phased basis as of 2 November.
This is the fifth year that Royal Mail has opened a dedicated network of parcel sort centres. The use of additional temporary parcel sort centres is now an integral part of Royal Mail’s substantial financial commitment in additional resources at Christmas operation to handle the festive mail bag.
Around 3,000 seasonal workers will be employed by the parcel sort centres. They will support Royal Mail’s permanent 123,000 postmen and women who sort and deliver the mail all year round, including Christmas which is the busiest time of the year for the UK postal service.
Royal Mail Group is taking on around 19,000 seasonal workers in total this year across its operations.
