In recent weeks I have contacted Public Realm and the City Council about street lighting on Ashmore Park and elsewhere in Wednesfield North.
I asked them what action they had taken to deal with street lighting and poor and deteriorating street lighting columns. The response I have received is “We haven’t carried out any improvements in this area for quite some time but we have replaced columns that have been involved in road traffic collisions.”
During this financial year we are hoping to replace all the lighting in Snape Road and a few of the surrounding streets.”
There is no proposed dates for the Snape Road scheme as yet. I am also pressing the Authority about providing footpath lighting on the footway that links Anson Close & Parker Road with Griffith Drive. There is currently no lighting at all, and elderly residents are concerned for their safety during dark nights and winter months. I am confident that your three Labour Councillors can make a case. Residents have put up with this for decades and it really is not a safe walkway when there is no lighting at all.
