Waste BIn Vandalism to be Addressed.

It was with much disappointment that I recently wrote about the new waste bin that was vandalised on the site of a much loved walkway by the Moathouse Lane ‘Dump Bridge’.
I know the people who had campaigned for the bin were very angry. When they found it damaged and the inside of it floating in the reeds.

I asked the Canal and River Trust to retrieve the insides, which they did. They then told me that the outer casing was damaged. I have been speaking with the City Council’s Public Realm team, and they have informed me that they have made arrangements to get a person to look at the situation and if possible, to make good the bin base and replace the damaged litter bin.

All of this will take time. But we will try again to improve the local area for the amenity it provides and the pleasure local people get rom the canal at this point.
It goes without saying that we look to the neighbourhood to help protect and look after this fabulous bit of canal.
