Wednesfield Is An Important Part of the City of Wolverhampton!

When I look at Wednesfield I see a thriving part of the City.

In fact I would go so far as to say, Wednesfield is a dynamic part of the city of Wolverhampton. Later this summer a World Championship will take place, and Wednesfield Aces who are hosting this Cycle Speedway extravaganza will also shine yet more World wide attention on our Village.

Contrast the activity that is taking place here in Wednesfield with other parts of the City ( beginning with T!) which always seem to be negative about there IMG00051-20110809-2101place in this great historic settlement.

Wednesfield is up-beat about our history, and later this Summer a re-enactment will take place of the ‘Battle of Wodensfield’ when 5 Danish Viking Kings were slaughtered in the fields of Wednesfield.

Now we are proud of his great history, Not only was this  one of the greatest battles in English history. It was a deciding Battle that changed Britain history. Recently the BBC and learned academics  told Wednesfields story on television!  However back to the present.

Did you know that the newest part of Wednesfield,  the Bentley Bridge Retail Park makes a contribution close to £3m in business rates to the City’s local economy.

That Wednesfield High Street has only 3 vacant stores, which is one less than this time last year!

The importance of Wednesfield to the role that Wolverhampton plays in the manufacturing sector can be judged by the number of manufacturing business operational here in our Village.

  •  Wednesfield  has 36 companies involved in Engineering
  • Wednesfield has 33 companies involved in Advanced manufacturing
  • Wednesfield has 39 companies involved in Other manufacturing.

So as you can see from these statistics we have a significant role to play in the Local Economy of Wolverhampton. We are comfortable with our place, and our history. Don’t you just love Wednesfield! I know I do…..
