I am sure that regular readers of this site will be getting the impression that Wolverhampton City Council is on the up!
Here is the latest set of indicators that the City is moving in the right direction…This week senior Officers attended the Local Government Association Equalities Peer Review feedback presentation.
Peer reviews take place at City Council’s request, and although they are not formal inspections, their findings are a useful guide to how we are performing and what improvements can be made.
The Equalities Peer Review measured Wolverhampton’s performance against the national Equality Framework for Local Government (EFLG).
The framework focused on five key areas: knowing communities; leadership, partnership and organisational commitment; involving communities; responsive services; customer care and a skilled and committed workforce.
Keith Ireland MD of City of Wolverhampton Council, with Members of Ashmore Park Community Association, chatting about community development!
Wolverhampton’s Managing Director Mr Keith Ireland in his briefing to City Councillors said
” The LGA confirmed the council has reached ‘Achieving’ status, and recognised the positive work we are doing to improve the equalities agenda. To go from not being on the framework, to then move from ‘Developing’ to ‘Achieving’ in one year is a significant achievement. I’m sure you will join me in thanking those for all their hard work in preparation for this latest LGA peer review.
I think readers of this site would agree with those sentiments!
