A number of residents have asked about the 59 Bus service when the resurfacing work starts on Griffith Drive. I contacted National Express West Midlands Management team and this is what they have told me.
I can inform you that the arrangements have yet to be fully completed. Conversations are still taking place, between NXWM and City of Wolverhampton about the detail that will be needed.
Here is what NXWM said “The Highways team say they’ve been liaising with TfWM regarding this who in turn have forwarded our comments onto Wolverhampton Council.
The information sent out by the contractors advises that the works will be carried out in 6 phases.
During phases 1 and 2, the 59 could still serve most of the loop using Lichfield Road and Linthouse Lane then go around Griffiths Drive to turn around at Ecclestone Road.
For phases 3 and 4, we simply would not be able to serve the loop due to no access to the turning circle and would only be able to serve the stops located by Peacock Avenue.
For phases 5 and 6, we could only serve the bottom part of the loop and will be able to serve the stops between Peacock Avenue and Ecclestone Road turning circle.
Apparently, we are just waiting on some final comments from TfWM and finalising the diversions, and we’ll be sending them out within the next few days.”
I will publish the full information when I receive it.
