Wyrley and Essington Canal News update-
There have been found some syringes that have been used and thrown away under the Church Road Canal Bridge in the Village. There is obvious concerns about child and adult safety. I asked the Canal & River Trust to place a ‘sharps box’ under the canal. They have declined to take that approach.
But they have said “With regard to the needles, whilst we won’t leave sharps boxes on site, when people come across them can they report it to us and we will deal with them as soon as we can. Once it is on our radar, we will do it as a matter of course but in the meantime please get people to report any incidents. Here is the contact numbers – email the enquiries to – enquiries.westmidlands@canalrivertrust.org.uk or Telephone number 0303 0404040.
I have also asked that the rubbish collecting in the water alongside Pinfold Bridge which remains closed, be removed and dealt with currently its an eyesore and I am pleased that CRT have responded by stating ” With regard to the rubbish I have asked the project manager to get the contractor to clear this up. It does look a real mess.”
With luck that will take place sooner rather than later!
