A new tool is now being used by every police force in the UK.
It’s a drug wipe developed by the Confederation of Passenger Transport member D-Tech.
The overwhelming consensus on DrugWipe, is that it has become a vital tool in the fight against drug driving and is an effective and very credible deterrent.
New figures announced by a BBC show informed that the number of motorists being arrested, charged and prosecuted for drug driving offences had soared drastically. In what is a start from nothing, some 8,000 drivers from across the UK were arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs in the year 2 March 2015 to 28 February 2016, compared to just 870 during 2014 / 2015.
I am being informed by constituents here in Wednesfield, that there is more and more anecdotal evidence of cannabis users smoking whilst they drive on local roads. The pungent smell of cannabis is drifting out of cars, and is now causing much concern in the locality. These national statistics are huge, and must act like a red warning light to Police and other Law Agencies & Authorities.
Impaired driving is a huge threat to safety, and the size of the numbers being quoted by D-Tech shows we have a very big battle on our hands to reduce Drug-Driving. Do you have a view on drug driving locally?
