Today Mary and I attended the funeral service for Ken Purchase. Ken was my friend as well as being an outstanding Member of Parliament. I attended the funeral service with Mary and Councillor Rita Potter.
The services was a very well attended affair, it was moving and it was emotional as well as often humorous! There were some wonderful tributes from his two daughters, and his close friends . There were a lot of national names present to pay their respects they included Peter Snape, John Cryer MP, Denis Skinner MP, John Hepple, Sylvia Heal, Emma Reynolds MP, and Rob Marris MP who also spoke about his friend, and many others . It was great to see our own Bob Jones from Ashmore Park with his wife Doreen, and my former NUR Branch Secretary Jimmy Edwards.
I know it it will have been a tough day for wife Brenda and family, but the send off was very well attended. Jazz was Ken’s music of choice and Jazz featured heavily on the day.
We will miss you Ken Purchase, But you will not be forgotten – Rest In Peace.
