Armistice Day – Coppice High School Stands Tall!

Today Mary and I went to Coppice High School in Ashmore Park where we took part in an Armistice Day service with some of the 1000 students and staff at the school.

img_1102-coppice-2016It was indeed a great service with Head Teacher Janice Fletcher explaining proudly, that the whole morning service allowed the various parts of the school to go through the learning experience of War and its aftermath, and then share Remembrance with local members of the Royal British Legion. The RBL stood proudly and took an active part in the service, which included the Last Post, and  the Exhortation. The RBL took the lead during the period for the Exhortation

THE EXHORTATION

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them

Response: We will remember them.

It was indeed a great morning, emotional for some ,and a learning experience for others. Both Mary and I were delighted to be invited to the event and later shown the school work that students put in to decorate the school, and tell the Armistice  Day story.
