As My Council Term of Office Ends!

Well I am fast approaching the end of my Four Year term on Wolverhampton City Council. I have greatly enjoyed my return to active politics.

Phil & Tom WatsonIt will be the turn of others again to indicate if I have done enough to represent the community yet again for another four years!

But the Wednesfield North Labour Party has selected me  to represent them in the City Council election in May 2016.

I am very proud of the role I have played since returning to the Council and its been a pleasure to represent my community yet again. There has been some highs and lows over this period but I can see the progress that has been made in the community, and within Wednesfield & The City. Here in Wednesfield North I have helped thousands of individuals and families, business and volunteers in all the years that I have been active in politics. However in the last four years highlights include –

  • The continued development of the ‘Hub at Ashmore Park’ has been a highlight
  • The fight to stop the ‘Blood Clinic’ moving from Ashmore Park Health Centre to other areas of the City, was a success.
  • The fight to save  The Ashmore Inn and it now being recognised as a Community Asset gives a warm glow!

In these three issues I have played a role in assisting the community save what they felt is valuable.

I have also played my part in the City Council. The areas where I have been active is in the Scrutiny process,  the economy and the City image.

I have also promoted heavily the Wyrley & Essington Canal, and  I still hold out the hope of turning it into a Local Nature Reserve. Indeed the canal and the activities that I have promoted on the canal has brought me special pleasure.  #SpeakingUp4WednesfieldNorth!
