Being Involved – Hard work and exhausting at times.

Well ( Wednesday) I am off to London on a transport day. I am off to speak with the Confederation of Passenger Transport. It is a meeting that was arranged a while ago. Its an important meeting and I am looking forward to it.

On Monday night I attended the Child Sexual Exploitation Scrutiny Panel, I didn’t enjoy that meeting at the City Council. It contained too much hurt, I am always shocked at how cruel people can be to children. Whilst I cannot go into individual issues or details about what took place in the meeting. I can report that there is growing statutory duties around safeguarding  in education. That school governors have an important role to play here, and other like doctors also have responsibilities.

Today Tuesday I have intervened in an issue regarding the slow actions in constructing Bollards in Fane Road to reduce illegal activities in a disused garage site. My interventions have led to the bollards being placed…hopefully residents will be pleased.

I have also intervened in another garage site ( Tuesday) today, which is also being used (allegedly) for illegal activities in Ferguson Street. I will report on this later in the week.

I would like to say to Wednesfield people I do get the anger you are feeling about the loss of further police cover with the announcements about the intention of West Midlands Police to axe PCSO’s. I have written to the Leader of the City Council about this issue, and I will report on this next week.Driving a tram Phil Bateman
