Bus Shelter – Lichfield Road Alteration Planned.

Residents of Wednesfield North this information is for you.

There has been some concerns over a newer Bus Shelter that was erected prior to Christmas on the Lichfield Road serving bus services arriving from New Invention and going forward to Wednesfield and Wolverhampton.

The Bus Shelter replaced one that was struck by a vehicle and damaged.

I just wanted to update you on this issue. I recently contacted Transport for West Midlands, because the replacement shelter was of a different design to the one removed. I asked TfWM to remove it as it was too close to the kerb line and being of an open design, customers of the bus service were being splashed on wet days and it obscured the view for a resident trying to access his drive. This is what TfWM have written back to me telling me.

“Following discussions with our highways colleagues, we are relocating the shelter to a new position set 1 metre farther back (the current distance from the kerb is 1.2 metres).

This will resolve the issue around obstruction of vision exiting the driveway, but might also offer some reassurance to the objectors as waiting passengers will now be a greater distance from the kerb line ((2.2 metres).”

I do hope Bus Users and Local Residents find this information useful. It looks like the bus shelter design will stay  the same.
