Back on the 19th February 2015, I wrote to the City Council following complaints from residents about the use of Motorbikes and scooters on the pathways and on the green open spaces, right on the boundary of Wednesfield North where it meets South Staffordshire and Walsall MBC.
I always try to act in the interest of a constituent. I had a look at the walkway at the back of Simmons Road in Ashmore park where the boundary between Walsall, Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire meets.
The fence was down allowing motorbikes easy access onto footpaths, putting pedestrians at risk, and onto the green open space where they are cutting the turf up. Plus again putting the users of this green space also at risk.
This is a very popular area, but my constituents lives should not be upset, because of the noise of motorbikes, nor by the rubbish that has been thrown down there, nor by speedy vehicles that should not in law be there.
I am very pleased to report that the City Council has acted swiftly and a very sturdy fence has now been erected, the remains of the old concrete stumps and barbed wire of the ‘old fence’ has been taken away. My congratulations to Public Realm for the fast response!
