Councillor Mary Bateman warned on behalf of Wednesfield North Councillors that ” Motorists should be aware of the latest Police advice. Please take note of the warning given hereabout the rise in thefts from vehicles in Wednesfield, heed the Police advice please.”In recent weeks West Midlands Police have noticed a slight rise in the number of theft from motor vehicle offences being reported. In particular Wednesfield and Bentley Bridge areas are seeing an increase in the number of in car video cameras (dashcams) being stolen.
Whilst we appreciate the great benefits of using dash cams and the fact the price for these devices have dropped considerably in recent years we are urging motorists to remove these from vehicles when securing and leaving your vehicle. Opportunist thieves are smashing windows and stealing these unnoticed in a matter of seconds. Sometimes the cost and inconvenience of replacing a car window far out weight the actual cost of the dashcam in the first place. Please remove all valuables from your vehicle and do not leave anything on show to tempt an thief. |
