This week is the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Awareness Week,
Wolverhampton City Council is playing its part.
There are a wide range of activities taking place in Wolverhampton for people living with dementia and their families and carers.
There are three particular events that you can get involved in.
The first are special awareness sessions in which you can join the 1.5m nationally who have become Dementia Friends, and are therefore more aware of both the particular needs of people with dementia, and the sort of help and support they could be given to make their lives a little easier.
If you are not already a Dementia Friend, please make time to take part in one of the special 45-minute awareness sessions being held at the Civic Centre in Committee Room 3 on Tuesday 17 May and Thursday 19 May starting at 12.30pm. To reserve your place, please email santosh.kumari@wolverhampton.gov.uk. If you can’t make these sessions, you can also become a Dementia Friend online at www.dementiafriends.org.uk.
The second event is Denim for Dementia day on Wednesday – colleagues are encouraged to wear one or more items of denim on the day, and make a £1 donation which will go to the Alzheimer’s Society.
