Fly the Flag for Wednesfield on 5th & 6th August!

Last year the City Council passed this resolution, and the Anniversary date is fast approaching.

So ‘Fly a Flag for Wednesfield on the 5th & 6th August! The City Council is going too, Can we ger all the homes in Wednesfield to do so also?!

“This City Council recognises the importance of the Battle of Wodensfield which took place in August 910 within the current City Boundaries. We wish to ensure the historic significance of this battle by declaring that the City Council flag is flown over the two day Anniversary (5/6) August  annually. We further request the City Council to investigate and report back to Cabinet, ways in which this historic event can be marked to regenerate and develop our local economy.”

The Picture on the Chairman of Wednesfield Urban District Council’s Chain…..”The Battle of Wodensfield” – Wednesfield where 5 Danish Kings were slain by the Saxons….One of Englands greatest battles!

The City Council will be running up the City Flag on these dates, and I wonder if the rest of Wednesfield would fly their flags, like we always do on World Cup days!

Maybe the flag of St George or the Black Country Flag could be flown from your house or business. But wouldn’t it be fun and very visual if Wednesfield celebrated that great victory by flying flags!
