I would like to inform readers of this site that I have written to the Local Police team because I am concerned that there are too many incidents of drug dealing and allegations surrounding the issue of illegal drug use taking place in this Ward.
I have written to the Police team asking them for information relating to the number of complaints that have been made by residents and Councillors in Wednesfield North which relates to the allegation of drug use.
I have also asked them to inform me what actions have been taken this year, and in 2014 against perpetrators of these types of crime. I have also asked them as to how many arrests have been made that has led to Court Action being taken.
I am of the opinion that drug and drug related crime in Wednesfield North is climbing steeply.
I have looked at my own records and can see that since January 2015 through to the date today. I have reported fifteen allegations relating to drug use to Wednesfield Police.
When I examined the same period in 2014, I had reported just five allegations.
I am concerned about this apparent steep increase in drug activity in my Ward, and am keen to find out how the Police are dealing with the issue. I also strongly feel that the dealers are emboldened and seem far less secretive.
In the last week I have had members of the public call upon me with allegations of multiple deals taking place over a wide area of Wednesfield. I of course phoned 999 and the members of the public passed on their information directly to the Police.
I will keep you informed of the police response when I receive it.
