Maureen Smith recently reported Giant Hogsweed growing on the banks of the Wyrley & Essington canal in Wednesfield. Maureen was sharp eyed and reported the growth to me. I have recently contacted the Canal & River Trust again to ask about its current status.
Previously CRT had said they would contact their contractor to remove this toxic and alien plant.
I can now inform you that the plant is eradicated! Here is what CRT say ” I can confirm that our contractors have been out and treated the giant hogweed at this location.
On the Wyrley & Essington in the Wolverhampton/Wednesfield area we don’t currently have any other notifications for giant hogweed.”
This is good news for everyone.
