Half term holiday fun activities for the kids

From wig making to scooping and splatting plaster there are lots of inspiring children’s art and craft workshops lined up in Wolverhampton over the half term holiday.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Bantock House have a packed programme of creative activities to keep children entertained every day of the school break.

Councillor John Reynolds, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: “Both Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Bantock House are great places to take your children any day of the week.

“These inspiring holiday craft sessions add another reason to go and make the most of what’s on your doorstep.”

Have a go at making and decorating a unique wig on Tuesday 31May from 10.30am to 12pm or 1pm to 2.30pm at the gallery, which has a great collection of portraits in its Georgian gallery for ideas. The cost is £5. Booking for these sessions can be made through Wolves Civic Midland Box Office or by calling 0870 320 7000.

On the same day over at Bantock House children can join in a carnival mask making workshop from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. It costs £4 per child. Booking is essential by emailing workshop@scarf4art.co.uk.

The art gallery is giving youngsters the chance to develop their building skills and become mini architects based on buildings in Queen Street. The session on Wednesday 1 June runs from 10.30am to 12pm and 1pm to 2.30pm. Book through Wolves Civic Midland Box Office or call 0870 320 7000.

Make some animal masks at Bantock House, Finchfield Road, on Thursday 2 June from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. Booking is required via email at workshop@scarf4art.co.uk. On the same day use your feet to create a collage of funny creatures; sessions run from 10.30am to 12pm and 1pm to 2.30pm. Get ready for the summer by making sun catchers in workshops at the gallery on Friday 3 June from 10.30am to 12pm or 1pm to 2.30pm. Place them on a sunny shelf to brighten up your home. Booking is required through Wolves Civic Midland Box Office or by calling 0870 320 7000.
