National Grid & Contractors Warned!

The National Grid working on Ashmore Park cannot do the sort of job they are doing – renewing gas pipes infrastructure without some problems! The very nature of the job and its close proximity to homes declares that. What is it they say? “You can’t make an omelette without cracking a few eggs!”

But they are only allowed to go ahead with these works within the rules and regulations, that the legislation governing the disruption of roads and pathways allows.IMG_6530 Acorn Road 1

It’s a fact that since they have been working on Ashmore Park there have been a lot of individual complaints made to your three local Councillors. We always follow up and try and get a result. It is in National Grids and their contractor’s best interest to ensure they do their job without antagonising their customers and the neighbours.

All too often since September I have had to complain about their workface starting work before 7.00am. Waking residents up, leaving them annoyed.

In the last week I have again had complaints, I have reported the matter to the City Council, and eventhough the job they are doing is not controlled by the City Council. There are still influences that the city can bring to bear on a company not working too regulations.

Wolverhampton’s City Services Director has now told me that “We’ve spoken to National Grid to stress the 7am start time and advised that the works could be shut down if they continue to infringe this time”

I want to impress on residents that your Councillors are doing everything that we can to have this contract worked speedily but within the rules regulations and legislation.
