Just a reminder to my constituents ,the new polymer £5 notes will be introduced on Tuesday 13 September 2016. If you run a business or have cash handling services – Now may be the time when you want to ensure that you have the facilities to deal with them!
- check all your cash handling equipment and ensure it can deal with the new notes – contact your supplier if required
- train your staff to ensure they recognise the full design and security features of the new notes – the three Scottish banks will also be issuing new polymer notes, starting with Clydesdale Bank on 15 September.
Constituents are also reminded that HM Treasury and the Royal Mint are planning to introduce a new £1 coin in March next year. The impact of this change should be considered if you have any vending machines. Or coin-counting or other equipment that accepts or uses £1 coins.. I hope you find this information useful.
