The three City Councillors for Wednesfield North have been meeting Parents and Users of the Ashmore Park and in particular speaking about the poor facilities on the Park for the use of the very young children 1- 10 years of age.
Two public meetings have been held at the Hub, where parents told the three Councillors of their concerns and their higher expectations moving forward.
The current arrangements are modest and the children’s play area is often seen to be unsafe by parents. It is not fenced off, and dogs often are drawn to the site by children playing, their ‘doggy left overs’ are a threat to the children’s health and safety, and bottles have been left discarded.
The Group agreed to explore setting up a ‘friends of the children’s play area’ with a view to be able to provide parental information on their children’s requirements on the Park in this area of play. Also as a forum for on going developments.
Councillor Phil Bateman today said “As discussed at the meeting. A Park consultation will commence end of July into August. City Official Chris Jones will be the lead and will be liaising on the consultation. There will be questionnaires drawn up, and those arrangements are being made now.
