The news that coach and transport companies along with holidaymakers are being held in huge delays at the Channel Ports today because of French security actions, gives much concern as to what the future is really going to look like under Brexit.
I know that the official response is that the security requirements following the tragedies on the continent are the official reasons. But you really do have to ask what the Governments planning process is like, and if the Government couldn’t be doing more to reduce jams in England and the Kent and coastal highways approaching the Channel Ports?
There will be much concern amongst the UK’s coach companies, who’s schedules will have been hammered by the delays that we are seeing today. All of which has tremendous economic and transport related issues for these companies.
Yes of course safety and security has to be top priority….but everyone who has an interest in moving people and goods into and out of the continent will be wondering what the future is really going to deliver for them?!
I think that the British Government is going to be lambasted by the British public, because planning looks lamentable today and we are approaching the height of the British holiday season.
