Private Fostering?

Wolverhampton LogoPrivate Fostering – information for the general public

City of Wolverhampton Council has a responsibility to safeguard all young people in the city and the law states that we must be informed of any children who are not living with their parents or close relatives so that we can ensure that they are well looked after, receiving a proper education, keeping in touch with people who are important to them and properly supported.  We can also offer advice and guidance to private foster carers to enable them to carry out their role.

Please find attached some information regarding Private Fostering.  We rely on members of the public and professionals working with families to identify cases where a private fostering arrangement may be in place and inform us and therefore we need to raise awareness and understanding of circumstances which may be a Private Fostering arrangement.

Further details can be found at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/privatefostering and the number to call to report cases is 01902 555392. All reports will be treated in the strictest confidence and followed up by trained social workers.
