I am very much aware of the fact that a lamp post in Eccleston Road was knocked down in a Road Traffic Accident recently.
I have contacted the City of Wolverhampton twice now with regards to its loss as an amenity for residents,
and a valuable tool in protecting both highway and property by giving continuous light during the evenings.
Here is the response I have received from the Highways Operations Manager –
“With regards to your recent enquiry regarding a street light out at the above location. Unfortunately, the column was involved in a road traffic accident and had to be replaced. We are currently awaiting for the column to be re-serviced by Western Power Distribution (WPD). Due to the impact of the pandemic WPD have a backlog of works which they are getting on top of. We have requested a completion date for the works but WPD are not able to give one currently. I will continue to chase them and press them for a date and highlight the urgency.”
It’s clear that this Lamp Post is an important feature – But the fact that Western Power Distribution is having this difficulty, means that local residents will I hope remain patient. In the meantime City will press them for the return of normal operation.
