Councillor Phil Bateman today said I had written to Severn Trent Water Company about their compensation payments, to their customers here in Wednesfield North in the City of wolverhampton, across the Postal Districts of WV11 and WV12 following the loss of water pressure/water from the 28th May through to Thursday June 4th 2020. This loss of water was in the middle of a Public Health crisis with the Covid19 virus.
Tonight I have received the following response -from the Severn Trent Water Company – They confirm that some customers have received compensation offers.
Severn Trent Water Company tell me “We have proactively texted or written to every customer in the WV11 and WV12 post code areas who we believe is entitled to compensation for recent intermittent supplies.
There should be no need for customers to do anything. If anyone wants to double check their status, however, the best route would be to go to ‘What’s Up’ us via our website – although there are also a full range of other contact options. ”
Councillor Phil Bateman added “I will contact them again in the morning about this matter.” However the Water Company has also reminded me that – “As the weather again warms up again, Severn Trent is working flat out to ensure safe, reliable water services for all customers.
The combination of warm weather and more people being at home than usual has led to spikes in demand of up to 40 per cent. At times, we have struggled to clean and pump water fast enough to keep up with record demand.
To address the problem, we have ramped up our capacity to clean and pump water to the absolute maximum. We are now able to treat and pump more water than any time in our history.
The second thing we are doing is asking people to use water wisely so there is plenty to go around for all. Paddling pools, sprinklers and the like are extreme users of water.
Customers can learn how to safe water on our website: https://www.stwater.co.uk/wonderful-on-tap/save-water/you-can-make-a-difference/?iid=mywm_wss:save_water:link/ ”
so there you have it. Many of you will have a gripe because of no compensation in a Pandemic crisis, and we have a warning that in the next few days we may have water shortages again if they cannot keep up with demand!
