State Opening of Parliament – Coincides with Wolverhampton ‘Mayor Making’.

Today is an important day for the Country and the City of Wolverhampton!
Today is the State Opening of Parliament and all the pomp and ceremony that goes with this important event, and later this afternoon the City of Wolverhampton thanks our outgoing Mayor Cllr Ian Brookfield and welcomes a new Mayor. With City of Wolverhampton ‘Mayor Making’ taking place.

Mayor City of Wolverhampton – Cllr Ian Brookfield 2015-16

I want to use this message to say how impressed I have been with regards to the year that Mayor Brookfield and his Mayoress Cllr Paula Brookfield has had (2015-16).

They have been marvellous First Citizens, representing the Labour Party and the City admirably.
I think that the Party and the City can be well proud of their year of Office, as they themselves can be proud.

The new Mayor being moved this afternoon at the Annual Meeting of the City Council will be Conservative Councillor Barry Findley, supported by Labour Councillor Ellias Mattu who will be moved as Deputy Mayor.
